A Curtain Raiser: Unveils An Impressive Line up and Events and brand new logo

The 15th edition of MFF organized by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Images (MAMI) Under the aegis of Reliance (Anil Ambani Group) with support from the Government of Maharashtra in Mumbai. Chairman and Managing Trustee of MAMI Shyam Benegal briefed the press as under :

  • Over 200 films from over 65 Countries to be screened
  • USD 220,000 (More than Rs.2.32 crores) to be awarded as cash prizes to winner films.
  • Costa Gavras and Kamal Hassan to be conferred with Lifetime Achievement awards
  • Leading talent such as Bruce Beresford, Asghar Farhadi, Leos Carax, Siddiq Barmark, Nathalie Baye, Masato Harada to attend.Homage will be paid to late Yash Chopra, Rituparno Ghosh and Pran
  • Celebration of Spanish cinema | spotlight on Cambodian cinema | 6th Rendez-vous with French cinema | Kabul Fresh :New voices in Afghan cinema | Experimental films | Costa Gravas retrospective | Leos Carax special tribute, besides usual sections of World Cinema, International Competition Films, Celebrate Age, India Gold, Above the Cut, Film India Worldwide and a section for restored Classics.
  • Other highlights are : Mumbai Film Mart (18-20 October),Special Master Classes by Industry veterans to be conducted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. As a mark to celebrate 100 years of Indian Cinema, India s first-ever “Composers Lab” will be held at Yashraj Studios.
  • Jury of 15th MFF is : Bruce Beresford, Asghar Farhadi, Siddiq Baramak and Konkona Sen Sharma, Masato Harada and Nathlie Baye. Bruce Beresford to head International Competition Jury, Asghar Farhadi to head India Gold 2013 competition jury.
  • Screening venues will be : Main venue Liberty Cinema and Metro multiplex all 5 screens in South Mumbai and all 5 screens of Cinemax Multiplex at Andheri (West).
