LAUT AAO GAURI --- IMPACTFUL TOPICAL SATIRE
Theatre Magic Natya Mahotsav ,as a part of their three days festival, had staged this Hindi play at Sathay College auditorium Vile Parle. Contrary to my expectation the play turned out to be most exhilarating and entertaining with purpose . It proved on top of all dramatic parameters. Writer Parag Ojha had selected an allegorical theme for depicting how our system has got corroded where the entire State machinery can work only for and on behalf of a political leader, ignoring the common citizen problems even at the cost of humanity. The satirical tale is weaved with comic punches and emotions. ”Gauri” name is allegorical for a buffalo owned by the local Vidhayak and a girl child of a poor couple . When they both get lost, the local Police team is made to work hard to find out the Gauri buffalo first. Even a preliminary report of the lost girl child does not get recorded by police on the blunt plea that they are all busy in search of Vidhayak’s Gauri (Buffalo). The poor man goes from pillar to post but in vain.
Direction is deft jointly credited to the writer Parag , Krunal and Susheel. Their team deserves accolades for extracting the timing of funny dialogues and appropriate expressions from the actors. And all artistes are superb in their respective portrayal. Top three actors are those who played the character of Vidhayak , Police head and the poor man who had lost his girl child Gauri (Names are not with me ). The sets were befitting to the scenes. This is a worthwhile social political satire for all to see .
