Saregama is known for its innovative ways to relive melodies from its huge archives. Last year, the music co. had started an unique series of compilation of choicest songs of legendary stars, sung by him/her during their film career under the title “Sitare Zameen Par”.First one in the series was on legendary thespian actor Dilip Kumar. This year the honor is bestowed upon another legendary actor with grace Waheeda Rehman.

The mp3 album under the salutation of her youthful positive song “Aaj Phir Jeene Ki Tamanna Hai”, along with her other 39 popular and variable mood songs. The album takes you on a musical nostalgia of film and music golden era when the melody was king. But ah! “ Waqt Ne Kiya, Kya Hasin Sitam; Tum Rahe Na Tum Hum Rahe Na Hum”.

Yes, this immortal realistic song of Kaifee Azmi will always remind us about the power of “Time”. Humans will gracefully or woefully become grey and die, but their creations in the form of melody, magical rendition and meaningful verses will remain immortal.

Now, think of a budding glamorous teenager Waheeda Rehman singing this satirical comic song “Kahin Pe Nigahen, Kahin Pe Nishana” which will revive the youthful memories from film “CID”. After that Waheeda has given lip movement, expressions, emotions and actions to each of her song in last 40 years in all hues and colors. Fun, frolic, and urge to live life king size to Shokhiyan, romance, pathos and tragedy; all we experience in the gems (besides mentioned above) Jaane Kya Tune Kahii, Tum jo huwe Mere Humsafar, Rimzim Ke Tarane, Rangeela Re, Bhanwara Bada Nadan Re, Raat Bhi Haai Kuch Bheegi Bheegi, Kahin Deep Jale Kahin Dil, Badle Badle Mere Sarkar, Mehboob Mere etc. Can you ever forget them ? And this innocent chedkhani “Paan Khaye Saiyan Hamar”. Simply out of the mundane music and film scenario of today.

Album also covers the creations of late maestros Naushad, O P Nayyar,Sachindev Burman,Hemant Kumar, Laxmikant, Jaidev and the living maestro Ravi. Amongst the lyricists-shayars the late Kaifi Azmi, Majrooh Sultanpuri,Sahir Ludhianvi, Shailendra,Anand Bakshi besides the legendary top Hindi poet Neeraj; can not be missed.

If you want to re-live our musical heritage and golden era, don’t miss this album of original recorded songs.
