Kudos to music sartaz co. saregama for bringing out an excellent musical tribute to the departed first ever Super Star Rajesh Khanna who was also loved for his musical numbers on the screen besides his histrionics and acumen of dialogue delivery, in this bumper two CD album. Saregama dug out its archives and library to collect 28 tracks of his music -song hits and two tracks of his Poetry (Lyric)recital of Sahir Ludhianvi which he had rendered in Yash Chopra film “Daag” (Main to Kuch Bhi Nahi - music by Laxmikant Pyarelal) Listeners will find this more electrifying in effect and meaning than his other all time hit songs in his reverberating, sensitive and clear tone when he is no more with us.
This recital audio track was also played in the ‘Chuatha Ceremony” of the star which sounded as if especially recorded for the public and his billions of fans as his ‘D Day’ message to express his gratitude for their love, craze and unparallel liking for him. In this album it is an opening number “Main to Kuch Bhi Nahi” in CD no1and then as the closing track in CD no.2 as if he is “adieuing” his innumerable fans. A few of the words are also recorded (Both of Lataji and RK) in one more number
“Han to Main Kya Kah Raha Tha” written by Anand Bakshi under the baton of R D Burman for the film “Raja Rani”. This album contains RK’s musical journey right from his first film “Aakhri Khat” 1966 to his last two hit film numbers of 1980 "Hamen Tumse Pyar Kitna” (film ‘Kudrat’) and “Hazaar Rahen Mud Ke Dekhin” (Film “Thodi Si Bewafai”).
Needless to add that all these tracks covers his all time favourite musical hits. His playback singers, besides his ‘pet voice’ of Kishore Kumar, there are few gems of Manndey, Mohammad Rafi, and one of Mukesh (‘Han to Main Kya Kah Raha Tha’). While almost all the yesteryear music maestros’ (Khayyam, S D Burman, Laxmikant Pyarelal, R D Burman, Kalyanji Anandji – and one each of Salil Chowdhury, Ravi, Kanu Roy, Hemant Kumar and Shankar Jaikishan) lilt is covered, the lyrical support of Sahir Ludhianvi, Anand Bakshi, Gulzar, Yogesh, Hasrat Jaipuri, Kaifi Azmi, Majrooh Sultanpuri, Indeevar and even of Rajinder Krishen is included.
All in all, this double CD collector pack album is a complete music- poetry and prose tribute to the late Super Star Rajesh Khanna alias KAKA. Not to be missed as a treat to our all seven senses.
