“My film is the 1st Indian FILM BASED ON HONOUR KILLING”

Says AVTAR BHOGAL

Reacting to a report published in a Mumbai paper on Priyadarshan directed film “Akrosh” touted it as the first Indian film made on the subject of “Honour Killing”

Avatar Bhogal, who earlier made issue based films like “Zakhmi Aurat”, "Aaj Ki Aurat”, “Haar Jeet” etc; has issued a press release in which he stated that :

“I am the first, who has completed a film based on “Honour Killing” which has already been shown to press and UK parliament and now awaiting release in India. My U k based producers EK ONKAR FILMS had LAUNCHED film in Mumbai at Sun and sand hotel in July 2009 based on honour killing titled “RABBA MAAF KAREIN” directed by me with music by Uttam Singh, lyrics by Dev Kohli and writer is R S Aatish. VETERAN ACTOR DHARMENDRA WAS THE CHIEF GUEST AND ALL ARTISTES INCLUDING PREM CHOPRA, GULSHAN GROVER, JAVED SHEIKH, TOM ALTER, LEADING LADY ZARA SHEIKH ATTENED THE SAID FUNCTION. This is a multi- cultural film made by me in Punjabi, Urdu and Hindi language with English sub-titles.

START TO FINISH SHOOTING SCHEDULE WAS CONCLUDED IN LONDON AND SURROUNDING AREAS DURING SEPTEMBER/ OCTOBER 2009 AND 5 DAYS SHOOTING WAS DONE DURING JANUARY 2010 IN PUNJAB. THE POST PRODUCTION FINAL EDITING, DUBBING, BACK GROUND MUSIC, EFFECTS MIXING WAS DONE IN JANUARY- FEBRUARY 2010.

WE OFFERED THE FINAL HARD DISKS TO PRIME FOCUS LTD, MUMBAI FOR D.I. DURING MARCH 2010 and the first screening was performed in UK on 22nd June 2010 in British parliament for M Ps and press. It was extensively covered by the BBC and other press. Thus, I am the first director to plan and complete a feature film on the burning and important subject of “Honor Killing”. Even the phrase “There is NO HONOUR IN HONOUR KILLINGS” was first used by me.

To refurbish his statement and facts, Avatar Blogal, has also quoted the comments reactions of media after it was screened for British MPs.
