He is none else than the legendary voice Padma Shri Ameen Sayani. Radio listeners and music lovers’ appetite was fed with the top Hindi film songs week after week thru’ radio Ceylon the host / anchor of most popular “Binaca Geetmala” which created history and is still remains unsurpassed.. Such was the craze to listen to the latest “Paidans” of the week’s most popular film song, we oldies used to tune and remain glued thru’ 8-9 p.m to the radio and never missed a single link till the programme was running on Radio Ceylon; even in Re-Christianed form as “Cibaca Geetmala”. That was later on followed by other popular programmes like “Saridon Ke Saathi”, “Shalimar Super Lac Jodi “ etc.
On 29th Sept. 2009 in association with Crossword - India's leading lifestyle book store and leading music co. Saregama, this legendary voice star, still keeping his captivating voice intact thru' last 60 years, Ameen Sayani launched his new album “Geetmala Ki Chhaon Mein” Volumes 6 to 10. The first five volumes, launched by Saregama in January 2009, were a hit in the market. The Music Company Saregama owns the largest music archives in India. The album was formally released by the Sales Head Abhay Tiwari, where the star voice and creator of the Album Ameen Sayani was himself present and provided the proof of his intact golden voice as the septugenarian voice legend.
Ameen Sayani said “Thru’ this album the resonance of yesteryear golden era melodies will ring tune in your ears and will re-live the history. It will be a sort of research material for the young generation too who did not hear live those immortal melodies. I have also revealed my love story amidst a host of other fascinating anecdotes and nostalgic stories in Geetmala Ki Chhaon Mein” Volumes 6-10 which is, in short is a comprehensive retrospect of the legendary Geetmala. Each Volume contains songs from 50s interspersed and peppered with interesting anecdotes, excerpts from interviews of illustrious film personalities and snatches of such luminaries as Raj Kapoor, Waheeda Rehman, Begum Akhtar, Naushad, Madan Mohan, Pran, Sunil Dutt, Asha Bhosle, Kishor Kumar Gulzar etc. etc. are also incorporated. Further it also contains my first visit to Radio Ceylon and my own love story”.
