Towering legendary Iconic Voice No more
Death struck its big blow and snatched the legendary persona of Ameen Sayani on 20 Feb. night. The end was sudden due to heart attack. My tryst with this voice legend began in 1951 from All India Radio and later on he was a household voice since 1952 when he heralded the legendary Binaca Geetmala on Radio Ceylon. This musical journey continued to haunt the film music lovers for next 50 years and will continue till eternity. Besides his successful forays in Radio ,Films , TV and Advertising assgignments, Ameen Sayani established himself a towering sweet voice as an anchor, host and compere par excellence.
My personal relationship with him began after 1980 and blossomed during 1990-2000 when even on professional level we were exchanging notes and almost used to be together in the Film, TV soirees. We came closure when he was the Chairman of Advertising Standards Council of India and yours truly as the Chairperson of Consumer Complaints Cell. Afterwards due to his health reasons my personal rapport with him became less. He was my elder friend and a personal/professional guide.. He was a communication wizard and had bagged almost all top Advertising and Communication Industry awards/honors besides PADMA SHRI.
I pay my heartfelt tributes to him .Needless to say I will miss his guidance. Om Shanti Om !
